2002 Opening Day at Fenway

by Cabana_Boy - last update: Aug 26, 2003

And here's the pitch

I had just gotten back into Boston from a business trip to Dallas, Tex-ass the morning of the 2002 Red Sox season opener. In fact, I didn’t even realize that the baseball season was starting this day. And baseball was the last thing on my mind, when I boarded my 6am flight to back to Boston. For the entire flight, I dreaded the thought of having to go into work later that morning. As I made my way into the office from the airport, I could tell something fun was going on in the city...

Once in the office, everyone was talking about the season opener…it was a nice, sunny spring day and Fenway Park was opening for yet another season. I had only been in the office for ten minutes, in fact, my computer was still booting up when a co-worker ask, “wanna to go to the Red Sox openah?” Naturally, my response was something along the lines of “does a bear sh_t in the woods!!!” And that’s all she wrote, the computer was promptly turned off and I headed for Fenway. My company’s IT solutions for broadband expansion would have to wait for another day, Martinez was pitching and Ramirez and Garciaparra were hitting…and I needed a beer...

Boston natives

Here are some drunks that I meet at Opening Day...actually they are friends from work, but that's basically the same thing.

The legendary Green Monster

Are those rain clouds forming over the Green Monster???

If it rains...

IF IT RAINS, WE'LL NEED MORE BEER!!!

Ahhhhh....

AHH...MORE BEER!!!

What happened to the rain clouds?

Hey, the Green Monster is scaring the rain clouds away...we should keep drinking BEER!!!

In the end...

The Red Sox lose again and the curse of the bambino continues...
