Fall As The Netherlands has very distinct seasons, I thought I'd show a few pictures of that. Starting out with fall. Fall starts in september and ends in december. Typical for fall is rain, storms and sunny days to enjoy the fall colours. It can stay pretty nice or suddenly get very cool. Outfits you should bring: t-shirts, long sleeved shirts, light sweatshirts, jeans, jacket and a scarf and umbrella or raincoat. |
Winter Winter can be cool or cold. Winter starts in december and ends in March. November, December, Januari, Februari and March can all be chilly. The weather can bring rain, sleet, light to heavy snow and crisp clear sunny days with freezing temperatures. The perks of the season are iceskating, hot chocolate, and short days and long dark nights to all sit together under a blanket and watch videos. I like burning candles for some extra light. The thing to wear: longsleeved shirts with a sweater preferably wool, jeans are always good, warm shoes and socks and a heavy jacket with a scarf and gloves. Sometimes a hat may be nice too. Umbrella can't hurt either. Make sure your coat is waterproof in this season as well. |
Spring Spring is a very charming time of year. In early March you can start the unset of spring in the wind. The Netherlands is famous for her tulips and late april to may is when they bloom. Also a favourite passtime is the blossom bike trail in the Betuwe. Spring is also a little unpredictable, it can be warm and sunny, and april can have snow as well. Spring is also the wettest season so bring your waterproff jacket, dress in layers and assecorize with an umbrella! |
Summer Feeling hot hot hot? Well the summer of 2004 was definitely hot. We didn't know what hit us in this little country (and the rest of europe I might add) A tipical summer has some rain and shine. A light sweater and, again, a waterproof jacket are a good idea. Umbrella's are optional. As are shorts on the better days. Typically august seems to have the sunnier weather. and in september it quickly cools down. My advice, dress in layer, always check the weather report, and if it is hot and sunny one day, don't expect it to be the same the next (but when it is raining, you have a pretty good chance of rain the next day as well) |
