Storms

by Seabiscuit - last update: Aug 25, 2004

VRAGE said I had a storm page, and I do

Incoming
The amazing thing about Mid-Atlantic storms, is that they blow in so fast, and can be mild horizontal rains to pure fury. In a 4-week consecutive storm track in September of 2001, every Thursday/Friday, a hurricane would blow in (and really screw up the weekend).
South Shore
This is the remnants of Hurricane Gertrude in September, 1999 on South Shore. Gertrude made an enormous mess, but seeing it go back out to sea was a relief.
Another view of South Shore after Gertrude.
South Shore 2
Bailey's Bay
This wasn't a hurricane, but an afternoon storm that blew in Easter morning of 2000. (Naturally, we were supposed to go to Easter brunch at a Friend's house, and the only 'mode-o-transport' was the mo-peds).

The sea actually turned green when this blew in. This was from our balcony behind the house.

Fabian - September, 2003

From what I can surmise, this location is just West of John Smiths' Bay on South Shore Road. It appears the Bermuda limestone walls were just tossed around. I think this is looking South/West.
South Shore Road
South Shore Road #2

Fabian - September, 2003 (#2)

This is in the same area, looking at the same direction. It appears the blacktop was just peeled from the Earth. I've ridden down this stretch of road many, many times, and this looks surreal.

Interesting reading about Bermuda. When the Tall Ships came into Brisbane, Australia, 1000's of people, including me, went to see them, what a sight!
