Turtle Island Near Sanur a place at the beach in the south of Bali is Turtle Island. On this small island the rare becoming turtles are breeded by the people. They let the turtles swim around the island and in the ocean from here. The people live be selling jewels made out of seashells and by giving tourists a tour on the island. Every two hours new tourists are allowed to take a look here, but the 'old' tourists who already were on the island will have to leave then. Not more then ten tourists at one time are allowed on the island. This is to prevent the turtles from being disturbed too much. |
A Temple at Ubud This 13th century temple lays along a small road in Ubud, Bali. You are allowed to enter the temple when you put a small coloured belt around your waste. The belts hang at the gate. |
Sometimes at temples simular like these ceremonial dances are held. Really a must see! |
It's very strange, but ladies who are having their period can't enter this temple. Though no one would check it ofcourse... |
Many people use the road along the temple to transport goods. Sometimes you see people cycling with big packs of wool or branches of wood all around them. The only thing you see on the road are the wheels of the cycle and all the branches. It's like a bunch of wood is cycling instead of a person with goods. |

This is the boat that brought us to Bali. The boat his a kind of wooden skis on every side so it can glide a bit and sails faster. |

Go and stroke a turtle at turtle island. You will notice that a turtle feels very funny to touch. Watch out it might bite you! The turtles are put back in the water after picking them up...they are not picked up often, the locals don't like that and they are right. Turtles don't live to be picked up all the time. |
You can't touch or pick up every turtle. That is not allowed. But just looking at them is nice too. |
