Off the beaten paths, go by metro at "la Muette" (the mute).

Here there are 2 perpendicular streets : Rues de Passy and "de la Pompe". Both are ancient ways of the Village of Passy incoporated within Paris in 1860.

The main interest of this walk is shopping and roaming about to look at the ancient buildings.

At the end of rue de Boulainvilliers, in front of the Pont de Grenelle : la Maison de Radio France. The head office of the main radio channel.

There are some concerts here.

In front of the Maison de la Radio and on the Swans Island : a copy of the Statue of Liberty of Auguste Bartholdi.

Its face is now turned against USA but initially, it was not. The President of the Republic refused to go by boat to inaugurate the statue and the Paris mayor was obliged to put its face against the bridge.

Jokes for tourists :

We (French people) have kept the true statue and we have offered a copy (large, but a copy) to the Americans. They have not yet realized.

Bartholdi had been training to make the Statue. He made some attempts. Paris has one of them.

Bartholdi proposed several sizes for the Statue as for the Tour Eiffel in the Souvenir Shops. The Americans have asked for the big one. Paris bought a smaller one.

French people have a better sight than Americans.
