Malaysain Temples

by Scottyj36 - last update: Feb 7, 2001

Malaysia has a mixture of the worlds religions, Islam, Buddisim, and Hinduisim are the most common, Christianity is smaller, and mostly concentrated in the Chinese in Malaysia. The folowing pictures of of Temples in Penang, and Malaka. The one above is probably the most attractive of the ones I saw.

Statue of Kuan Yin at Kek Lok Si temple in Georget

The construction of Kek Lok Si started in 1890 and took 20 years to complete. When you go in the temple be sure and see the Ban Po Thar or 10,000 Buddas Pagoda. A contribution is appreciated to climb the temple. At the top is the Statue of Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy.
There are alot of hawker stands inside of the temple so keep your hand on the wallet. It is pretty impressive temple. "Aint nothing like it in Indiana"
2 more temples, I love the building style. It is so diffrenet from the west.
