Stavanger by night

Stavanger by night... taken across Breiavannet - the lake that is at hte heart of Stavanger

Traditional houses in residential part of town

Small wooden houses - typical of the old traditional houses that you can still find in the center of Stavanger.

Gamle (old) Stavanger

The town has North Europes best preserved wooden houses, there are more than 150 houses that were built at the end of the 1700's and in the 1800's. Today the houses are mostly privately owned and used as homes - some houses are owned by the city council.

OTHER USEFUL STUFF:
Stavanger library is several things in one, it has foreign newspapers available if you want news from home, there is free internet access (you might have to wait your turn to get online - but at least there's no charge), the buidling also houses the local cinema and several other things (for more info see: http://www.stavanger.kommune.no/solvberg/html/english.html).
