The Fast bus

The local busses have to finish their pickup rounds in the suburb within half a hour to keep up with the half hour train connections at the hengelo Station.
This became a problem with the expanding suburbs, so dedicated bus lanes were constructed, right of way system and traffic light control and a GPS control system.
New busses were introduced in 2006 with matching new sponsored bus stops.
Taking the hengelo bus is a precision operation!

This is De Hasseler Baan, the main road to the ciy of Hengelo. Note the seperate bicycle path.

Art

n.a.v. Stonehenge

Hengelo is known as Metaalstad (Metal-city). This is one of the many metal pieces of art.

It's Evert Strobos' "n.a.v. Stonehenge" made in 1978 and previous being set-up at the Bundes Gartenschau in Bonn, Germany.

In 1984 these cortensteel towers found there final destination.

Opposite there is still some cattle in a typical Twente setting.

How long will the green buffer last?
The local Trivium organistation has plans to build a new old people care home at these meadows.

Wow, you lived so close by! Wish I had known you earlier, it would have been so easy to meet! I've been to the Hasseler Es quite often!
