"Palais du Luxembourg" Paris Travelogue by FreeCloud
Paris Travel Guide: 26,455 reviews and 51,411 photos
Palais du Luxembourg was first built as a royal residence, to remind Marie de Medici, widow of Henri IV, of her hometown Florence. It was finished in 1631. Now it is the home of the French Senate.
In the pond in front of the building, Parisian children's popular activity is playing float wooden boats.
Saint Genevieve was prayers saved Paris from the Huns in AD 451 (need history lessons here!).
The construction started in 1754. The place is surrounded by chestnut trees.
Parisians are so lucky to have beautiful parks in the city to relax and play.
I love those lovely outfits young children wore. We ran into the wedding at St. Severine - that reminded us it was Saturday.
This 17th century fountain is in an Italian Grotto style. Might be designed by Salomon de Brosse? On both sides of the fountain pool, lined up small tables for people rest in the shade in a hot summer.
This young boy was very diligent practicing soccer, we hope to see him playing for a French team in 10 years.
I just could not help it: what a gorgeous mother and a dandy, happy and strong boy!
