The road to the office Part 4

by pieter_jan_v - last update: May 4, 2006

THIRON building

Center City Hengelo

Thiemsbrug was a small bridge in the past at the crossing of the major roads to the neighbouring cities.

Nowadays it's a big three fork crossing with a fourth fork for cyclists only.

New buildings are constructed at all 4 sides.
WW II tank taking a left turn

Rare traffic

It's amazing what kind of traffic is crossing Thiemsbrug.
Pooring concrete

Thiemsland

Just behind Thiemsbrug construction work is in full swing.
Innocent

How long??

Innocent, a alternative center for young people.
Hengelo City Hall

City Hall

This is a collecors item. For 2 weeks this handical parking spot at the City Hall entrance was converted into a taxi stand after 10PM. The message was: If you are handicapped you must go home at 10PM!!!. After quick protest the 24 hours handicap parking is back.
Marskant

The new Police Office Building

De Marskant crossing. As there is an elementary school this strange bycicle path construction is made. On this side it is one-way; at the other side it is 2-way (without signs-expect for the old parking signs for parking area that is replace by the 2-way path). It is so strange and cumbersome that nobody is uses it.

To the right the new Police HQ is taking form. It replace a bank officebuilding that was demolished.
Emmastraat

Emmastraat

De Emmastraat. This is the coffeeshop area, but there are some oriental shops too. Not to forget, there is the only TV-repair shop.
At the end to the left you will find the Central Postoffice.
Old will become new

ROC School

The framework of the 100 year old STORK building wil be used for the new Regional Training Center ROC.
