"The road to the office Part 4" Hengelo Travelogue by pieter_jan_v

Thiemsbrug was a small bridge in the past at the crossing of the major roads to the neighbouring cities.
Nowadays it's a big three fork crossing with a fourth fork for cyclists only.
New buildings are constructed at all 4 sides.
It's amazing what kind of traffic is crossing Thiemsbrug.
This is a collecors item. For 2 weeks this handical parking spot at the City Hall entrance was converted into a taxi stand after 10PM. The message was: If you are handicapped you must go home at 10PM!!!. After quick protest the 24 hours handicap parking is back.
De Marskant crossing. As there is an elementary school this strange bycicle path construction is made. On this side it is one-way; at the other side it is 2-way (without signs-expect for the old parking signs for parking area that is replace by the 2-way path). It is so strange and cumbersome that nobody is uses it.
To the right the new Police HQ is taking form. It replace a bank officebuilding that was demolished.
De Emmastraat. This is the coffeeshop area, but there are some oriental shops too. Not to forget, there is the only TV-repair shop.
At the end to the left you will find the Central Postoffice.
The framework of the 100 year old STORK building wil be used for the new Regional Training Center ROC.

Hello, Pieter! Thanks for your useful tips! It's always nice to read them! ><><><><><><
Hi PJ thanks for pointing out the wrong railway station pic - bit of mis-filing on my part.
What a nice place to be. The Hunkerbunker apartment has a unique name. YOu have done a great job of presenting this town and sites to us.

Hi Pieter, I liked your tips. You are living in a nice place.
so much variety in food; I don't think I visited Hengelo, (yet)
Ha ha. K likes the line, "You've got to pick them up just to say hello."
Hengelo is so beautiful. I visited there before a month.
Hansi and Lori are coming here on the 22nd! :( I'm heading the wrong way I guess.
