In certain areas of Manila and in some of the Northern Towns you can ride in a Calesa. There are probably other places you can ride them too. But I haven't seen them. I love the clip-clop sound of their shoes as I ride in them!!! |
| | Tricycle This is what the locals call a Tricycle. It is used in for short rides usually less than 2 KM. But it could be used for more. It is more expensive than riding the Jeepney because you are hiring it for yourself unlike the Jeepney which will pick up other passengers. It is still fairly inexpensive. 50 cents - $1 for most rides |
| | Banca The popular mode of water travel would be the Banca. The smaller ones for exploring closer islands, fishing or just going for a ride. You won't have much converstion while the engine is running as it is very LOUD! But they are fun to ride. You must negotiate your price before the trip begins and make sure of how long or how far you are allowed because some of the operators while try to squeeze a few extra pesos out of you if you don't. A nice place to ride a banca is in the 100 Island's area of Pangasinan. This shot was taken in Paringao, Bauang La Union. There is a long beach here that isn't to crowed except during holidays. |
