Best way to get around a bike and a cellphone to call a cab when you get tired. |
Miami Beach Marina. South pointe in the background. |
Fresh fish off the boat, at Casa Blanca Fish market in Watson Island. |
Cuban demonstration through the streets of Down Town Miami. |
Visit Cuban Memorial Boulevard(SW 13TH Avenue) and SW 8th Street (Calle Ocho) in the heart of Little Habana. There you will find memorials to the Martyrs of Bay of Pigs, memorials to Cuban Political Prisoners, imprisoned by the current communist Cuban regime, for exercizing freedom of speech, memorials to the free Cuban journalists, persecuted by the Cuban communists for reporting news inside Cuba. At about SW 11th Street, furthe south along SW 13th Avenue you will find "La Casa del Preso" ( The prisoner's House) Dedicated to unite ex-political Cuban prisoners. This is not a tourist site but just so you know. It is a quiet but interesting intersectionplace. |
Memorial to the Martyrs of Brigade 2506. Bay of Pigs Invation. A young brigadist was killed while training to go liberate Cuba. His number was 2506. The brigate was named in his memory. The men here memorialized gave their lives for a free Cuba. Exiled Cubans all over the world remember what they did. This monument is in the heart of Little Habana, Sw 8th Street(Calle Ocho) and SW 13th AVenue(Cuban Memorial Boulevard). |
Memorial to free Cuban Journalists. |
Memorial to the Cuban Political Prisoners. To the people who have suffered for speaking their minds, the communist locked their bodies, but could lock their minds. These are the true Cuban patriots of our times. These are the true revolutionaries. |
The Torch of Friendship, dedicated to John F. Kenedy this monument is located in front of Bayside Market Place, Downtown Miami. . |
Shrimp boat at Dinner key Marina. This tiny fleet of shrimpers go out daily to hunt the tasty treat. During the season many amateurs set up their nets along the many bridges with a good measure of success. |
The building in the center is The Rusty Pelican restaurant. Behind it, is what used to be the Marine Stadium, now closed. Today that area is used mainly by waverunners because the water is calm and does not have much boat traffic. Waverunners can be rented there too. |
View of the Miami River. The peole mover elevated tracks can be seen in the background. The back side of some Miami Down Town buildings. |
A local pastime. Fishing from thr old Rickenbacker bridge. |
The American Airlines Arena, home of the Miami Heat basketball team. |
Mariquitas(Banana Chips) at Lilas Westchester Cuban Restaurant. |
Wet Willies at 760 Ocean Drive, South Beach, Miami Beach. Be extremely careful with the frozen drinks sold here. For example they a brew called "Call A Cab", believe me the name does it justice. That drink could ruin your day. I don't know what they put in it but they must put a lot of it. Nice place to hang out, cacth the ocean breeze, and people watch from the second floor terrace. |
