Beautiful Boston

by dinhyen - last update: Apr 15, 2003

The exclusive Back Bay neighborhood is home to many beautiful mansions and well-tended gardens. I suspect people who live here would go to Cambridge to take pictures.
The Public Garden, the oldest in the US, has a veritable collection of sculptures and monuments as well. Thankfully as yet there are no "modern arts" sculptures.
The Public Garden boasts many rows of colorful tulips
The Charles River and its banks are a popular recreational area. The Charles is also a hotbed for boating activities. Here MIT sailboats run their race course. MIT students will do anything to get out of class, even if it means going around in a tight circle for hours.
The Frog Pond in the Boston Common opens every winter for ice skating. Few things are more serene than gliding in the open air. Now if only they will stop playing that annoying N-Sync song over the PA.
The Head of the Charles is one of the world's premier rowing competition. Here scullers are going past a Harvard clock tower. MIT, Harvard, BU and NU all have boat houses on a small section of the Charles. Unfortunately, some other university usually end up winning.
The BU Bridge is one of my favorite vantage points.
The snow come down often and in large quantities.
Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plains is home to many plants, both exotic and commonplace. It's a very relaxing and peaceful environment perfect for a short getaway from the hubbubs of the city.

Hi Din, I like your page. One correction however. Paul Revere's house is not the oldest house in Boston. The James Blake House in Dorchester is: http://www.dorchesteratheneum.org/page.php?id=221 Regards, Cole K
