Views of Cuenca The small town of Cuenca has a wonderful medieval city center perched on the canyon walls of two rivers. The gothic cathedral is magnificent and its famous "hanging" houses host an Abstract Art Museum which is worth a visit.
Try to stay there over night. I recommend the Parador, an ancient monastery overlooking the hanging houses, and the Posada de San José, an old house hanging on the canyon. Charming!! |

These buildings are called the "skyscrapers", even though they were built centuries ago. |
The Parador The old convent of Saint Paul has been transformed into a comfortable parador in a privileged location with breathtaking views over the old city. |
Cuenca From the cloister of the parador you can also admire the canyon of the river Huécar. |
Colourful landscapes Nature is spectacularly beautiful in this area all over the year. This is a picture from the summertime. |

I must say that the NH in Marbella was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in... the staff seemed to share about ten brain cells! | MM212 Mon Jul 24, 2006 10:10 UTC Great collection of architectural photos! |
