If you get a chance to be a volunteer on one DO IT.
(~_~)
As I mentioned before on the main page, I was a volunteer on a kibbutz in the north of Israel. An amazing experience both because of the other volunteers I met & also the environment of living in the community of a Kibbutz.
The vollie house where we all lived, up to 80 volunteers could be housed here. Used to be the cow shed
Some of the volunteers in the pecan fields. A mix of South African, English & Danish (volunteers that is not nuts ! ). Well actually some of the volunteers were n............................. (~_~)
This was mine & Helens room, it looks pretty grotty in the photo, but you have to make the best of what you can. I have great memories of this room! Have to admit it looks a bit naff now,
(~_~)
In the evenings, especially Friday we used to have "Party Rooms" where whoever wanted would decend on the chosen room, take drink, usually hideous cheap vodka with lots of fruit syrup & play silly games, before going on the night club.
Excellent times were had. Photo is Rob (Brit), Gila (South African) Me and Jesper who is a Dane.
This the craft house, where the old people used to go for the morning to make bits & peices. some of which were sold in the Kibbutz Hotel. This is Rachel & Shmada who were paid workers from a local town not Kibbutzniks.

Its beautiful. Hope to get there sometime. Greetings.
I felt so then and I still feel that the month I spent at AS in July 1987 was the best vacation of my life. Do you remember Maxa? She used to call me a stupid monkey in German.
After updating my pages I just re-read yours -- fantastic.
Wow! This took me right back to 1987 and my stay in the big rowdy volunteer house! Amazed that it is still going. It is wonderful to see so many young people from all over the world live together as we did nearly 20 years ago. .
I've never been to Israel, but it is a place that everyone should visit because of the history, culture and importance in today's time...you showed it in a wonderful light!
I too felt the same about visiting the places in Israel that I had read about in the Bible. Quite moving. I am surprised that I haven't come across this page before Nicola - you had quite some experience on the Kibbutz. :-)
I love your personal stories, and your pictures are great! Skiing in Israel would be a very special experience, maybe some day I'll get a chance to do it.
I liked your Bethel hostel photo, Nicola. And that other place had an interesting name... Tabasco. I've heard of Tabasco Sauce, but.... Interesting and fun page. Cheers from Florida.
You did it again Nicola!!! Brought back more memories of my happy days in Israel and the Sinia. Pity I didn't take more pics or have a digy cam.I did 2 Kibbutz and 2 Moshav meself.Shalom.Salam.Tim
Thanks for a wonderful preview, Nicola. My fascination with Israel just grew with your pages.
