The Last Time I Was in NYC

It was early March 2001, and I had a vacation coming up. I decided on going to my uncle's house in NJ, my usual vacation destination. This time I brought a long a friend, Kristen, who was my roommate in college. On the drive down there I noticed my throat was hurting a bit, and the next day I woke up with a very sore throat. Of course, that did not deter me from going to the city - New York City. I saw a doctor, then coughed and sniffled my way thru the city, showing Kristen some of the sights. One day at the Bronx Zoo, which was fine except there aren't too many animals to see in the middle of winter. One day was spent in midtown, doing the shopping tour. One day my uncle came with us, and we went downtown, to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the famous skyline. I took this picture as the ferry was leaving the Statue of Liberty to go to Ellis Island. I never imagined that it would be the last time I saw the Twin Towers in person - I would expect something to happen to me instead. I went thru my photos the other night because I knew I had more pictures of the skyline, and found this especially poignant picture, not even realizing at the time I took it how special the picture would be. I want to share this picture with everyone and I hope you will share it with your loved ones.

Please do not rate this page, it is simply a way for me to get through the grief I feel over the tragedy and to share with you all the fond memories I have of New York.
