The Dream Internship Come True I did my undergraduate degree in international relations and english lit at the University of British Columbia. I focussed on Security and Diplomacy in Northeast Asia with a particular interest in Cross-Strait relations. (I am a cross-strait baby...my mother is from Taiwan, my father is from Hong Kong/ Canton.) My big dream was to be the Canadian Ambassador to China. So when the opportunity to apply for a position as a research assistant in the POLITICAL SECTION of the Canadian Embassy in Beijing came along...I jumped! I was so grateful for the opportunity to work in PERPA (Political Economic Reporting and Public Affairs Section) with some really fantastic people! I learned a lot and got to do some really unforgettable things. Here is a picture of me and some of my co-workers, Luke, the other intern, Wang Lei and Madame Xia, our lifelines... |
