Getting around La Digue

by wadekorzan - last update: Sep 9, 2002

La Digue is so small, basically the only way to get around is by bicycle. I believe there are three taxis on the island, and there are some carts pulled by oxen...but for the greatest flexibility, rent a bike. Bikes can be rented right at the dock where you arrive and it is easy to get around the whole island without too much effort. there are a few hills...going down is much more fun than going up, but when crossing the island, the interior jungle is gorgeous!

Thank you for the insight! What are the "not-to-miss" places to see for four people who are adventurous but not able to spend a ton of money? I really appreciate your reply. I have my heart set on these beautiful islands as a future trip!

It's nice beaches and tropical sun. Not much apart from this. On islands corralls can make it painful, if you try to swim. Not easy, if possible at all, to find decent food and nightlife very limited, if at all. But, yes, I liked it too ...:)))
