La Digue

by wadekorzan - last update: Sep 11, 2002

One island that you absolutely cannot miss in the Seychelles is the island of La Digue. It is easy to get there from the island of Praslin, which is one of the most touristed islands. There are ferry boats that leave several times daily for La Digue and the boat ride is incredibly relaxing and beautiful. Just be sure to buy your tickets a little in advance to ensure that you get space on the boat. We went to La Digue just for the day as we were staying in Praslin, and once we arrived there we were a bit sorry we had nor arranged to stay there for some nights. It is very quite and peaceful. When you arrive by boat, the place where you dock is sort of the center of the village, if you could call it a village. There are bikes for rent right there and they are quite cheap. It is basically the only way of getting around the island and there are no cars. Lots more to tell you, and I will be adding more soon and some photos...

Thank you for the insight! What are the "not-to-miss" places to see for four people who are adventurous but not able to spend a ton of money? I really appreciate your reply. I have my heart set on these beautiful islands as a future trip!

It's nice beaches and tropical sun. Not much apart from this. On islands corralls can make it painful, if you try to swim. Not easy, if possible at all, to find decent food and nightlife very limited, if at all. But, yes, I liked it too ...:)))
