This was the most wonderful of all the temples we visited, and my favourite memory of Egypt.
Go by boat down Lake Nasser and the sight of the temple growing ever larger will take your breath away, most people go by jeep and miss the effect. A bonus we found was that as the boat was moored overnight we were able to get up very early the next morning and have the whole temple to ourselves
In a side chamber you can see where the work stopped when Ramses died, some of the paintings were unfinished and there were sketches on the wall waiting for the stone carvers to begin working on them
