The Fairmont Pierre Marques is one of Acapulco's most luxurious hotels, located some 15 minutes from the city in an area called Revolcadero Beach. For all who do not wish to sleep during the day after a night of partying, the Fairmont hotel offers peace from the noises of downtown.
The prices are competitive too - at US$142 per night (plus tax 17%) the hotel was cheaper than the rather average Fiesta Inn (US$180 plus tax). Just book through the Fairmont Web site to get good rates - do not pay the rack rates (US$80 more expensive on average).
The hotel counts with 5 swimming pools, and the larger one is nothing less than spectacular. The food is excellent (for a hotel) and the rooms tastefully decorated. The beach in front of the hotel is quasi-deserted at all time and offers some good swimming and suntaning spots.
The only issue with the Fairmont is... the distance from downtown. It will cost you between US$10 and US$15 to go by taxi from the hotel to, for example, the El Alebrije discotheque. Besides that, for such an excellent 4 star hotel, the doors in the rooms could have been thicker to provide a better noise insulation.
