Unique Qualities: SOMETHING FROM ITS HISTORY... The Prado: was the heart of the social life of Havana in the XIX century... during the XVII century, around the Old Havana city walls were constructed in order to protect the population from pirates attacks. Later (1774) the logical urban expansion of the city started outside the walls with the apparition of a big and large street: the Paseo del Prado. The most sumptuous mansions of the town rose along both sides of this street. The Prado rapidly became the heart of the social life (more or less like Ramblas in Barcelona :-) yeah! ) Specially on Sundays, fine carriages carrying prominent members of the aristocracy were seen, and at carnival time the parades with the spectacular floats ended there.
March 22nd 1908 this great Hotel Sevilla opened. Was a gala affair attended by the cream of the Havana society. Mrs. María Pilar Beltrán was its godmother and Mr. Perfecto its godfather.
