Petra is one of the world's most unique travel experiences, a whole city carved out of red sandstone, lying in a basin among the mountains, accesible only throw the 2 km long so-called
Siq, an astonishing man-made canyon.
Petra offers dozens of sights, the most appreciated are
the Treasury (Khazne Faraun) and
the Monastery, but also
King's Facades (several tombes carved into the stone, which are directly connected and look like a street facade), the
Roman amphitheatre and many other tombes, places to make sacrifies and places with religious background are wort to see. Even hundreds of man-made caves, used as home by the then inhabitants are very intresting.
The whole area is huge, so you'll probably need two days to see all of it. Due to the long distances and the up and downs you'll need to be in good condition, but every single attraction in Petra is worth the endeavours.

Address: Petra
Directions: The fastest way to get to Petra is the Desert Highway from Amman via Ma'an, but due to its great views I recommend yo to take the
King's Highway from Amman, which is an attraction on it's own.
