Season 'Live' Seafood (Hai Wei Huo Hai Xian): "Most Atmospheric joint for Seafood" Top 5 Page for this destination Pulau Ubin Restaurant Tip by bpacker

Contrary to belief, the best place to eat Chinese seafood in Singapore is not at the UDMC centre at East Coast but by a little coastal village in Pulau Ubin. Picture yourself sitting by a makeshift table under a tree, sipping on coconut juice and feeling the seabreeze running thru' your hair. On top of that, you'll get to enjoy fresh sea critters at rustic prices.
Favorite Dish: There's lots of seafood joints near the jetty so head for the one joint that is situated just by the waters . For about US$24 in total, hubby and I had a huge and scrumptious seafood dinner...
1) Succulent big prawns, steamed whole, whiskers and all, in ginger and their juices.
2) Crabs, fried with spicy black pepper sauce and spring onions. This was particularly gd as the crab flesh was firm to the taste.
3) Tofu Seafood Soup.
4) Thai coconut juice in their shells with plump, juicy white flesh. The coconuts here are way better than the ones found on the mainland. A lot cheaper too. One coconut cost about US$0.90 on average.
Pretty good, considering, that the portions were huge. A similar meal on the mainland would have cost us at least US$36 or so.
