This is another trail with multiple wildlife attractions. We saw both flamingos and penguins--on the same island! The penguins are the endemic galapagos penguins. They are only about 45 cm high, and as such are the smallest in the world. In addition, these penguins are the only ones to be found at the equator.
The flamingos are they same type that live in the Caribbean. They live in a shallow lagoon isolated from the ocean and spend their time head-down filtering the water for the small shrimp they eat (that's why flamingos are pink, by the way). They are quite rare on the islands.
