Taipei's newest skyscraper currently holds the title of world's tallest building. As its name suggests, it has 101 floors and 509 meters (1670 ft.) in height. This is more than 50 meters higher than the previous record holder, the Petronas Towers at Kuala Lumpur. The building is completed in 2003 but most part of the building will not open until 2005. Currently only the shopping center (Taipei 101 Mall) located at the first few floors are open to the public. Eventually most of the building will be occupied by business offices. There will be restraurants on 86 to 89 floors and the observation deck on 89 to 91 floors.

Directions: Take the MRT and get off at the Taipei City Hall station.
