  chirurgical paneel, Kom Ombo
by Myndo

On the back side of the Temple of Kom Ombo you can find this paneel.
On it (enlarge the picture) you can see the chirurgical instruments they used in the old times.

The Egypt actually had a very advanced medical knowledge and also made operations.

So one should not wonder too much when one recognizes on the wall: scales, spoons, scissors, a sponge, cupping glasses ...

Some priest who lived close to the temple were specialised in Medizine and met here with the patients.
As in modern practices there were times when the Patient had to wait.
I suppose there were no magazines available, so the patients used the time for some games and such and this one (maybe a stone worker) has chisseled out a labyrinth out of the floor. It can be found on the right side walk of the temple.
I was very amazed to find this here, because this sort of labyrinth can be found not only in Egypt, but also in Peru, Arizona, Iceland, Skandinavien, Crete, India and Sumatra.
And it always looks the same! now, how can this be?
