Luk Yuen Noodle House: "(Affordable) Chinese fit for a Taipan" Manila Restaurant Tip by Tijavi

I must admit that I am a great fan of Chinese food, with almost regular cravings for dimsum or wanton noodle soup. Whenever these cravings hit me (and when there's nothing to warrant any splurging; read: simple days), I head off to any of the Luk Yuen branches in Metro Manila (my favorite branch is in the old Greenbelt in Makati, fronting another Filipino food institution - Max's Fried Chicken).
It is during one of these cravings that I have realized Luk Yuen, despite their very affordable prices, could please the palate of a taipan -- oh no, not just a taipan, but THE taipan -- the well-respected and highly regarded Henry Sy, Sr., major shareholder of the SM chain of supermalls! Arguably, Mr. Sy is the most well respected of the Philippines' Filipino-Chinese taipans.
Anyways, while enjoying my usual wanton noodle soup and shrimp dumpling at Luk Yuen's SM Megamall branch, Mr. Sy silently and unassumingly entered the resto along with his wife and perhaps their personal secretary, ordered some food, silently enjoyed them and without any fanfare, left the resto.
Now I could finally claim I have dined with a taipan (well, not really together, but at least, at the same time and place ) :-)
Favorite Dish: The wanton noodle soup and shrimp dumpling are my personal favorites here. Sometimes, I also have some machang, but you have to ask for the freshly prepared ones.
