The submarine U9 (NATO S188) was built by shipsbuilders Howaltwerke in Kiel and launched 1967.
This submarine belongs to the third generation of german submarines and had covered 174850 nautical miles before it was taken on a ponton through the Rhine and finally transported with a huge low-loader with 160 wheels to the Museum.
You may enter the submarine and walk trough it and see & touch all the details !!

The submarine weighs 466 tons, is 45,7 meters long
4,6 meters wide and has a draft of 4 meters.
top-speed was 11 knots - 1300 n.miles
with 5 knots it could go 4177 nautical miles

Das Unterseeboot U9 wurde von der Kieler Howaltswerft gebaut und 1967 in Dienst gestellt.
Bis 1993 legte es 174.850 Seemeilen zurück, bevor es seine letzte Reise über den Rhein auf einem riesigen Ponton antrat.
Das letzte Stück des Transportes übernahm ein Tieflader mit 160 Rädern.
Man kann das U-boot betreten und alles besichtigen und angreifen. Es ist innen sehr eng aber auch sehr interessant
Das Unterseeboot wiegt 466 Tonnen, ist 45,7 meter lang
4,6 meter breit und hat einen Tiefgang von 4m
Die Reichweite war bei 5 Kt. 4177 Seemeilen
