A scooter is a great way to see San Miguel and get around Cozumel. The roads are safe for the most part, as the majority of traffic is on Avenida Rafael Melgar. The price to rent 1 scooter should range from $20-$30 around the island.
I rented from a guy named Israel at Rentadora Hanatol across the street from the International Pier. We talked him down to $20 each since we were renting 2 scooters. Walk directly across the street from the entrance to the pier and his business is on the far left side, next to a woman braiding hair.

Stay to the right of the road and let cars pass, don't speed, and always wear a helmet.
