Favorite thing: The tourist information has recently moved from a place next to the cathedral to another place next to the cathedral. It's now located between the station and the Alt Köln brewpub.
As usual in Germany these days you have to buy a map here. You could also go upstairs to get a free one along with a free shopping guide on Cologne but that's a big tourist trap as there's some nice souvenirs you can buy there ;)
