Ruins on the beach in Tulum
by Maria_75

This is a very small and charming place south on the Mayan riviera. It lies about an hour south of Playa del Carmen, and three hours north of the mexican border to Belize.

It's much smaller than the other touristresorts in the area, and it doesn't have the big all-inclusive hotels that you can find on the rest of the coast, but you can rent a cabaña on the beach instead.

The main reason for visiting are the ruins that lies a bit north of the city. They are not as big and impressive as many others, but the setting is absolutely fantastic. They are perched on cliffs overlooking the beach and the sea. This means that you can both see ruins and swim at the same time! A perfect combination... :)
