This memorial is elegant, dramatic, and beautiful. The statue and fountain represents humankind rising from the flames/ashes of war, as I've read. It serves as a peace memorial, and is dedicated to Cleveland soldiers from WWII and the Korean war, as well. Their names are also etched into a black granite border around the fountain.
It looks beautiful both day and night; especially so at night while it is illuminted. Be careful as you walk around; the ground gets slick from the spray. You can even sit there (with risk of slipping) and get a little wet from the spray. :)
Directions: Mall A; just east of the Marriot Hotel. Or, between St. Clair and Rockwell.
