The combined city theaters of Gera and Altenburg offer an extensive program of operas, operettas, musicals, ballet, spoken drama, concerts and also puppet theater.

No matter when you come to Gera or Altenburg, you will probably find something going on at one or both venues. In the month of November 2004, as an example, there was only one day in the entire month when nothing was scheduled, namely Tuesday the 16th.

Directions: The theater in Gera is very conveniently located just behind the main railway station. Since my last visit they have constructed a new streetcar line with a stop for the theater and station, with direct access to the station itself.
