"Ultra martinis" MGM Hotel Tip by erudisel

MGM Hotel, Las Vegas: 9 reviews and 17 photos

Teatro is located inside the MGM Casino on the strip. It is one of the many new "ultra-lounges" for the young, hip, and well-to-do. The building is obvious, constructed in the shape of an igloo with red carpet leading to the entrance. The downbeat electronic vibes coming from the inside are alluring, not over powering. This is the place to get a martini. You can buy liquor by the bottle if you wish, or just go for one of the house martinis. This isn't the place for the frugal tourist though. You WILL spend some money here. But you are paying for atmosphere. You will pay anywhere between $10 to $20 for a drink (not including entire bottles which are priced in the hundreds).

It is extrememly comfortable. The overstuffed chairs complement the plush red floor. Projected images dance around the wall behind the bar accenting every subtle beat of the music. The music is slightly loud, but still not to the point where you cannot hear your conversation.

The cocktailers could be runway models and, as always in Vegas, the service is impeccable. When you place your order with your cocktailer she promptly returns with a silver pushcart mini-bar. All of your drinks are made at the table by accomplished mixologists. Cigars are welcome and oversized cigar ashtrays are provided on request (good luck moving them around the table though.. they must weigh 15 pounds).

Dress Code: Upscale casual. You can get away with wearing jeans and sneakers, but you WILL be out of place. The patrons here are well-dressed and well-educated. You will be most comfortable wearing a stylish suit. Even the cocktailers work all night in heels and tight-fitting cocktail dresses. While I was there a bodybuilder-type walked in with in a cutoff shirt and shorts. He was served but everyone in the place was staring at him and making comments. You should dress for the occasion. You never know who might be sitting next to you.
