"You need a car" Richmond Transportation Tip by Krumlovgirl

You really need a car to get in and around Richmond. We do have a local airport, but it is mostly used for private aircrafts only. No commercial airlines. The closest airport is in Lexington, 30 miles up the Interstate. There isn't really even good bus service connecting Richmond and Lexington, although Greyhound does run twice a day to get you there. This is definitely more of a rural community. I wouldn't recommend the cab service at all. I know most of the cabbies and they're an interesting lot. Some of the college kids get by on bikes, but with our two big bypasses that have a lot of traffic, I wouldn't even recommend a bike as an option.
