Walk to the westernmost tip of the Île de la Cité to reach this square. There are stairs that lead down to the Square from behind the Statue du Vert Galant (Henri IV - Mr. Paris-is-worth-a-mass). To the right of the steps is the embarkation point for the Bateaux les Vedettes du Pont-Neuf boat tours.

A pretty path to leave by is to come around the southern (left bank) side to the Quai des Orfèvres where you'll pass sunbathers & picnickers (some might even offer you some of their repast as they did me) on a sunny day, up the stairs of the Petit Pont, & thru the Place du Parvis-Notre Dame for a lovely view of the cathedral.
