  Imposing beauty of Isaakovskii

I really love this cathedral. It doesn't have the "authenticity" of Kazansky, but it's also not as touristy as the Church on Spilled Blood. It has scale going for it too, there is just something about the enormous granite pillars, which thousands of workers dragged in from miles away, and the beautiful bronze statues on the roof... And you can climb the collonade, which is definitely worth it if the 200+ steps aren't too much for you. I recommend both the climb for the view of the city, and going inside to view the interior, which is decorated in mosaics so fine they resemble oil paintings.
