Its like killing 18 birds with one stone!!

If you are staying at the Hostelling International Hostel, you may be able to join a free 18 hour walking tour of the city every saturday which starts at 8.30 in the morning and finishes around 2.30 the next day!!

Dont be put off by the sound of it though.... tiring as it may be, its a great way to meet some fun people and you are free to leave whenever you want.

Jerry, the guide is a walking, talking encyclopaedia and knows pretty much all there is to know about the city.

You start the day with a metro trip to Brooklyn and then proceed walk across Brooklyn Bridge, visit the WTC site, wall street, battery park, the statue of liberty, chinatown, little italy, greenwich village, New York University, the flatiron building, the chrysler building, the empire state building, grand central station, 5th Avenue, st patricks cathedral and finally central park!!! Since there is so much to see in New York, this is a great way to get a feel for the city and get some useful tips from the 45 people who are on the tour!
Be warned though...... only 20 stayed till the end!!!
