Maxie's Delicatessen: "Roast Beef, Pastrami, and Cheesecake. Oh My!" Maxie's Delicatessen - CLOSED Tip by TexasDave

  Pastrami, and Roast Beef
by TexasDave

This is a very touristy restaurant that serves HUGE portions (the bummer is that they charge you $3 extra- I think- to share a sandwich). The star is pastrami on rye, served with fries and/or cole slaw, etc. They also have an incredible assortment of cheesecakes (New York Style, of course) which you will probably have to share as well, or take it "to go" to save for later. The prices are a little on the high side, but, hey, it's New York and you'll only do it once.
On the weekends when the weather is good they close down Seventh St, and there is a street fair selling all kinds of souvenirs, clothes, knock-off purses, etc.

Address: 723 Seventh Avenue (at 48th St.)
