"As Centraal As It Gets" Krasnapolsky Apartments Tip by andelain
Krasnapolsky Apartments, Amsterdam: 5 reviews and 5 photos
To anyone who needs a central location from where to see Amsterdam I would highly recommend the Kras. Walking distance from Centraal Station. It isn't the most affordable of locations, but some people don't have much choice (see below). If you book very early and arrive before or just before peak season you can get some pretty good deals on room rates. Atmosphere was wonderful and the service was excellent. I would stay there again given the same choices I had. However, I know how to get around the city now and would likely stay somewhere less central, thus less expensive.
Unique Qualities: The highest priority for my visit was handicap accessiblility. It is a sad fact that most hotels do not have this type of accomodation. The Kras was one of the few exceptions. Despite the age of the original building they did have a room that met all my needs as a wheelchair-user. It is sad that they didn't have more rooms this accessible. If you have special needs you should book early and ask for details. Just because someone say that a room is "accessible" doesn't mean that it meets all your needs. Keep this in mind wherever you're thinking of staying. With the exception of the incredibly steep ramp up the front of the hotel and the cramped elevator a wheelchair-user should have no problem. For a city with very little disabled accessible accomodations this is very high praise indeed.
