Papillon: "Don't miss the mussels" Restaurant Papillon Tip by Stellaluna

This is a lovey restaurant in Old Montreal. The ambiance was very warm LITERALLY! We had a romantic table at the front window and the heat was pumping out of the baseboard heat like there was no tomorrow. A quick press of a button turned it down and the room started to cool.

We started out with fresh baked bread and french onion soup. The soup was traditional canadian style. If you are accustomed to USA style it may be a bit unusual, but still very tastey.

Next we had a salad with goat cheese, olives, onions and herbed tomatoes. Delicious! We both weren't overly hungry so we settled on a mussel appetizer. Imagine our surprise when we found out the appetizer was limitless!

The waitress spoke French and communicated with my husband while I waited for him to interpret. She did not attempt to speak English. She was friendly and very helpful regardless of the communication barrier.

Favorite Dish: Try the mussels in tomato with or without extra spices.
