The Powder Tower is located to the north of St. Vitus Cathedral in the Prague Castle complex, or if you are standing at the front entrance of the cathedral, it is located to the left side of it.

The Powder Tower, also called Mihulka, was built in 1475 as a castle fortification. It never had to be used for its original purpose, and it was later a gunpowder storage house. If you look up while in the tower, you will see the ceiling is black with soot. The tower has also served as a bell foundry and alchemist's workshop.

You can get a great view of Prague from the tower. There is also an exhibition of Medieval art, astrology, and alchemy.

You must purchase a tour package to see this. Be careful walking up the stairs.
