It was amazing. Apart from a few new items like a restaurant it was like walking back in time. The wonderful old cargo boats, the bond warehouses. I was entranced, and not for the first time, in London.
St Katharine Docks has been the focus of worldwide trade and commerce for over 1,000 years.
It is one of London's undiscovered treasures, an attractive waterside environment with a mixture of shops, restaurants, offices and luxury apartments as well as yachts and motorboats which come each year to use the berthing facilities at this, London's premier marina.
Curious visitors to this historic site will also find the famous Dickens Inn, the oldest building at St Katharine Docks and on the River Thames.
St Katharine's is located in the Pool of London and is an active member of the Pool of London Partnership (www.pooloflondon.co.uk), an organisation which has been set up to promote and develop the area as a high quality tourist destination in order to provide employment opportunities for local residents and growth potential for local firms.
