"Deniz Muzesi (Naval Museum)" Istanbul Off The Beaten Path Tip by WulfstanTraveller

Istanbul Off The Beaten Path: 515 reviews and 1,133 photos

Istanbul has a fairly small but interesting Naval Museum on the European shore of the Bosphorus north of Dolmabahce. It contains a number of imperial Ottoman caiques, rowboats used by the Ottoman sultans, many quite large and ornate. It also possesses lanterns and other artifacts from Ottoman warships such as the battlecruiser Yavuz Sultan Selim (ex-German Goeben), the Turkish navy's last capital ship.
