"The national museum." National Museum - Magyar Nemzeti Mzeum Tip by belgianchocolate

From 'Central' it is only a short walk to the
Hungarian National Museum.
The collection took a start in 1802.
Some coins , some books a gift by
count Ferenc Szchnyi's.
A lot of donators would follow that example.

Now the museum houses 1 000 000 items.
You can find lots of information on their website!

We were impressed by the modern presentation
of the items. You make a walk trough history
in a couple of houres. From prehistoric time
to the Hungary of the late 1980's. Especially
for that period they give a very good impression.

Outside you can find a Lapidarium ,
a collection of roman times stones.

It is free with the Budapestcard. If you want to
take picturs you'll need a permit that will
cost ridiculously much. The cloakroom is
for free , but obligate.

Make sure you got enough time reservated
for this museum if this is your thing.
It is huge , interesting and international
