"Ruedesheim am Rhein - Hessen" Germany Things to Do Tip by Kristina1701

Not sure if Ruedesheim really is a must see destination but it definitely is a very popular place among tourists. It's a small town in the south of the state of Hessen, nestled in the Rhine Valley and the Taunus (a low mountain range). The town's most famous street is the so-called "Drosselgasse", a very narrow street where you'll find heaps of German restaurants, Biergaerten, wineries as well as tourist shops.
By cable railway/gondola, up the vineyards, you'll be taken to the "Germania" statue where you can enjoy the breathtaking views over the Rhine Valley. Unfortunately my pic doesn't do justice at all since it was only taken with my mobile phone. I wish I'd have brought my digi cam.
A typical souvenir or present from Ruedesheim would be a bottle of wine, especially Asbach (for further info visit www.asbach.net), however i fear that it would be cheaper to buy wine in a less touristy town!
