"Do you know that once you..." Vatican City Local Custom Tip by Krystynn

Vatican City Local Customs: 76 reviews and 95 photos

Do you know that once you enter the grounds of St Peter's Square or the Vatican Museum, you have effectively left Italy??

The Vatican currency is the Lira (like Italy). ;-))

Do mail a postcard home to your family and friends from the Vatican City. But you need to buy the Vatican City stamps... If you do so, you are also contributing to THE major source of income for the Vatican. This is good. And I'm sure our good Lord will bless you abundantly for helping out and blessing these folks....

Do plan to spend your entire morning, at least, at St. Peter's Basilica; the Vatican Museum and possibly (if you still have stamina) Castel San Angelo. It's even better if you can spare an entire day just exploring the entire Vatican City.

2 hours at St. Peter's will allow you time to climb to the lantern.

The Vatican Museum require another 2 hours (minimum)....

And the Castel needs less than an hour.

So you see.... If you really want to do all these 3 activities thoroughly, you'd need at least one full day here. :-))
