I can't quite remember what this statue symbolizes but I do know that it's found inside the St Peter's Basilica.

But anyhow... proceed to the Main Altar, where the Confessio, is placed (and in accordance to tradition), just directly over the actual Tomb of Peter. Yes, as in St Peter, the Apostle who once denied knowing Jesus 3 times. He was martyred eventually for his faith in the living Christ and nailed to the Cross. Well, Pius XII instituted some serious excavation work to be done in the 1940s. And the evidence is strong that the altar may, in fact, be over the Tomb of Peter!!!

On the right side of the nave, just a little before the crossing, towards northeast of the Main Altar, you'll find an ancient bronze statue of St Peter. Yes, as in St Peter, the Apostle who once denied knowing the Lord Jesus 3 times. :-))) Just trying to get my point across, ya know?? Well, its foot has been worn to a nub by being touched and kissed by all the religious pilgrims visiting this place over the years.
