Vatican City General: 180 reviews and 206 photos

Fondest memory: That's me standing in the middle of St Peter's Square (and looking like one of the many statues lining the square) here at the Vatican City. :-))) Yes, just outside the St Peter's Basilica lies the colonnaded square, a masterpiece of Rome's leading baroque sculptor, Benini. O.K., in order to appreciate Benini's ingenuity, you MUST stand on either side of the round, dark stones next to the piazza's (square) twin fountains. Do you realize that the three rows of columns line up soooo perfectly that they appear as a single row? Amazing! Don't just believe me. Check it out for yourself, if you haven't already done so!
